BUCHAREST 28th - 30th of June 2019
The annual meeting of the FIE Commissions and Councils was held in Bucharest (ROU) between 28 – 30-06-19, the last weekend in June.
Two plenary sessions were run in addition to each technical body’s individual agenda,. A training course for competition supervisors was organized for the morning of June 28 . This workshop was run by Pascal Tesch, FIE Executive Committee Member and Representative of the Executive Committee in the Rules Commission and Edina Czegledy, Member of the FIE Legal Commission, and jointly prepared by a special working group consisting of Pascal Tesch, Edina Czegledy as well as the President of the FIE Legal Commission, Sam Cheris (USA, MH), Clare Halstead (GBR), Chair of the FIE Anti-doping Council, and Nathalie Rodriguez, FIE CEO. The seminar highlighted the legal framework of supervisors’ responsibilities as well as best practices with the aim of harmonizing standards. An updated reporting system was presented.
On Sunday, a separate Safeguarding training session was held for supervisors, detailing the new Safeguarding procedures approved by the Executive Committee and incorporated in the FIE Administrative Rules following approval by the 2018 Congress of the FIE Safeguarding Policy. The Safeguarding training for supervisors was run jointly by the IOC Safeguarding Officer, Kirsty Burrows, and Maria Putz, expert from the LimeCulture organization. Dedicated training for FIE Safeguarding Officers appointed at the world championships had already taken place in February.
Among other items on their agenda, the Commissions and Councils examined the proposed amendments to Statutes and Rules.
