The FIE is saddened to report the passing of Peter Loetscher (SUI) on October 24, 2017. He was 76. A member of the Basel Fencing Company (FCB), he was trained by Roger Nigon. Mr. Loetscher earned a silver medal at the 1972 Munich Summer Olympic Games in the team epee event. He also participated in the 1968 Mexico City Summer Olympic Games. He was also individual European epee champion in Heidenheim, 1974; two-time individual epee Swiss champion; Spanish individual epee champion in Barcelona, 1963; and bronze medallist at the team epee World Cup in Ankara, Türkiye, 1970.
