Journalists wishing to cover the final Olympic preparations of the world’s top fencers are invited to apply for accreditation for the the Épée Grand Prix and World Team Championships in Women’s Foil and Men’s Sabre 2016, which are being held together in Rio de Janeiro in April 22-27.
The two competitions form the official test event for Olympic fencing in Brazil this summer.
The test event acts as a thrilling appetiser for the Olympics themselves, as the planet’s top fencers vie for the Grand Prix and World Championship crowns, respectively, in a spectacular setting.
Many of the epeeists on show at the Grand Prix will return to Rio for the Games in August, giving media outlets the ideal chance to connect with the Olympic medal challengers at a crucial stage in their preparations.
The full array of media services will be available to journalists at the venue including media areas with free wired internet access, a mixed zone, and information support in the form of a full program and results service. Journalists must apply during the day of the competition to be registered on the mixed zone schedule.
Fencing demonstrations for the public, featuring full-length pistes and games for children, will accompany the championships.
Accreditation is available via the online application form on the FIE website. The deadline for submitting applications is April 1st.
Information will be posted on the competition's official website www.brasilesgrima.com.br.
The accreditation center is at the Carioca Arena 3. Avenida Embaixador Abelardo Bueno, 3401, Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.
