Agreement guarantees London 2012 champion support through Tokyo 2020
BRIDGEWATER, N.J., October 1, 2015 – Olympic gold medalist and fencing champion Rubén Dario Limardo Gascón has joined Absolute Fencing Gear’s sponsored athletes program, supporting the Venezuelan athlete’s ongoing quest for winning world and Olympic fencing titles. Limardo took the gold medal at the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games in the men’s epee event, and most recently won double gold at the 2015 Pan American Games in men’s individual and team epee. The sponsorship agreement with Absolute Fencing Gear, the world’s leading fencing equipment manufacturer and supplier, guarantees Limardo support through the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Limardo’s victory in London was historically significant, being the first-ever medal in fencing at the Olympic Games for Venezuela, and the second-ever Olympic gold medal for Venezuela in any sport. In addition, this was the first Olympic gold medal in epee for Latin America in 108 years.
