PARIS, France, July 30, 2024 – Italy won its first-ever gold medal in women's team epee fencing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In all, 12 gold-medal events in epee, foil and sabre individual and team competitions are being held from July 27 to August 4 at the Grand Palais.
Women’s Team Epee (8 Teams)
Italy faced France in the final match of women’s team epee, winning the Olympic gold medal with a score of 30-29. In the semifinal round, Italy won against China, 45-24, while France defeated Poland, 45-39. Poland won the bronze medal match over China, 32-31.
“We are friends, we put our hearts in what we do, we work hard for one touch, one touch, one touch”, said Italy’s Mara Navarria. “For Italy, this is so important for the young, the girls and for dreamers. If they work hard, they can do it. And the Grand Palais is spectacular!”
