The world's best men on épée will gather at the Pierre de Coubertin stadium for the most prestigious world cup of the FIE Calendar. A year to go for the Olympic Games, the SNCF Network Challenge (2 and 3 May 2015) marks the start of the competitions for the Olympic qualification.
Created in 1938 under the name Monal Challenge, in memory of the épée fencer René Monal who died during a competition at the age of 24 years, then became Challenge Réseau Ferré of France in 2012 and filally it is now known as the Paris stage for the Men’s épée World Cup in 2015.
The Challenge SNCF network in Paris marks the starting point for this exciting sequence of competitions towards the Olympic Games Rio 2016. Gauthier Grumier who is currently épée world top ranked fencer, Ulrich Robeiri world champion, Daniel Jerent winner of the challenge in 2013 and Jean-Michel Lucenay will have the chance to reach the top of the podium on May 2 during the individual event, while the next day will represent France at the team event.
