LAUSANNE, Switz., March 18, 2021—The International Fencing Federation (FIE) is announcing the Olympic-qualifying Kazan (Russia) Epee World Cup, “Epee of Kazan”, taking place from March 19-23 at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre.
Qualification rounds begin for men on Friday, March 19 and for women on Saturday, March 20. Team qualification rounds for men and women will be held Monday, March 22. Individual finals for men and women are scheduled for Sunday, March 21 and team finals on Tuesday, March 23.
The competition will take place under new COVID-19 protocols developed to support the safety, health and well-being of athletes, coaches, officials, referees and staff after extensive preparations of World Cup operations and logistics. These new procedures affect virtually every aspect of participation in the event throughout its duration and associated travel, with the goal of significantly reducing probability of COVID-19 exposure.
